What Does It Cost?
Annual Fee
- Rostered members - $65 per year
- Non rostered members - $130 per year
Rostered members are required to help out at the Library on either a Wednesday or Saturday at least one to two times during the year and at our annual stocktake.
Non rostered members are not required to help out at the Library, however they are required to help out at our annual stocktake.
New members can join at any time in the year by paying for the following years subscription. So if you join in August for instance you pay up-front and then your next subs won't be due until August the next year.
We keep the joining fee to an absolute minimum to cover our running expenses and new toy purchases. There are a lot of Toy Libraries that charge per toy. We believe with access to over 1,000 toys this is an extremely reasonable cost.
Payment
You can pay by:
- Cash
- Cheque (make the cheque payable to 'Newlands Toy Library Incorporated' )
- Internet Banking (put your family name and your membership number in the reference area)

Other costs
A $15 fee will apply if you do not show up for duty without a reasonable excuse or effort made to swap dates with another member.
$5 is charged for missing pieces of toys, lost bags, boxes and damaged parts of toys. (You have a term to look for missing pieces before you are charged).
$1 per toy per week is charged for toys overdue for more than a week.
If toys are not returned or are irreparably damaged we will charge you to replace them.
The committee reserves the right to forfeit your membership until you pay all your memberships costs, including overdue fines.
Financial Hardship Membership
We offer a limited number of yearly memberships for people who are in financial hardship and would otherwise not be able to join the Toy Library. Potential members can apply themselves or you can apply on behalf of a friend or family member. Application for this membership is made by emailing us and certain criteria will apply before any membership is granted.
